Here at TalkWebSolutions we use WMWare to test our applications on many different operating systems with different browsers installed - this allows our sites to be fully tested for the outside world.

Today I had a bit of an issue with a Virtual Machine not shutting down correctly - all I saw was the 'shutting down' screen.

First of all I tried suspending the machine - but doing this, WMWare remembers the state of the VM shutting down - so no luck there.

After a bit more playing around I found out that if you press the 'alt' key on your keyboard, select the 'power off' option from the Virtual Machine menu bar - and bingo! This does a hard reboot.

Very nice.
